Vinicius Junior has decided to remain at Real Madrid despite earlier interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Contract negotiations between the Brazilian forward and the Spanish giants remain ongoing.
According to ESPN, Saudi officials who first met with Vinicius in 2023 regarding a potential mega-deal worth up to €1 billion (£840m) have since cooled their pursuit.
The last approach reportedly came in December 2024, with no further engagement since then.
The SPL’s former vice chairman, Saad Al Lazeez, who was the primary liaison, has also stepped down, reducing the possibility of the move.
Real Madrid opened contract talks in February, offering Vinicius a renewal package on par with his current net salary of €17 million (£14m/$18.6m) annually.
However, the player’s representatives countered with significantly higher demands. The club has yet to formally respond.
Despite the contractual impasse, Vinicius appears committed to the Bernabéu project, with two years still remaining on his existing deal.
The 23-year-old remains central to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans as Madrid prepare to face Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.
