Nigeria’s Super Eagles have departed Lagos for Ivory Coast, to participate in the 2023 Africa Cup Nations (AFCON).

The continental tournament which kicks off on Saturday, January 13, will see 24 African countries justle for the prestigious title across five Ivorian cities.

The 52 matches will be played in Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, San-Pedro and Korhogo.

The Super Eagles, drawn in Group A, will have their first outing against Equitorial Guinea on Sunday the 14th.

Coach Jose Peseiro’s men returned to the country after a brief camp in Abu Dhabi, where they engaged in a friendly against Guinea.

Although they lost the encounter 2-0, Peseiro maintained it wasn’t a source of worry, as he was testing a new tactics.

Going into the competition, Nigeria hopes to take their tally to four, after winning the title last in 2013.
