<p>Nigeria’s <strong><a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/super-eagles" rel="noopener">Super Eagles</a></strong> have departed Lagos for <strong><a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/ivory-coast" rel="noopener">Ivory Coast</a></strong>, to participate in the <strong><a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/?s=afcon" rel="noopener">2023 Africa Cup Nations</a></strong> (AFCON).</p>
<p>The continental tournament which <strong>kicks off on Saturday, January 13</strong>, will see 24 African countries justle for the prestigious title across five Ivorian cities.</p>
<p>The 52 matches will be played in Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, San-Pedro and Korhogo.</p>
<p>The Super Eagles, drawn in Group A, will have their first outing against Equitorial Guinea on Sunday the 14th.</p>

<p>Coach Jose Peseiro’s men returned to the country after a brief camp in Abu Dhabi, where they engaged in a friendly against Guinea.</p>
<p>Although they lost the encounter 2-0, Peseiro maintained it wasn’t a source of worry, as he was testing a new tactics.</p>
<p>Going into the competition, Nigeria hopes to take their tally to four, after winning the title last in 2013.</p>
