<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/EFCC"><strong>EFCC</strong></a> has summoned Subomi and Wahab, sons of billionaire <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/?s=Razaq+Okoya"><strong>Razaq Okoya</strong></a>, for questioning regarding accusations of <strong>naira abuse</strong>.</p>
<p>This summons was issued by Michael Wetkas, the acting director of the EFCC’s Lagos office, requesting the brothers to appear at the commission’s office at 15A Awolowo Road by 10am on Monday, January 13, 2025.</p>

<p>The controversy stems from a promotional video for a new song where the Okoya brothers are seen with a police officer who was holding stacks of N1,000 notes.</p>
<p>This video sparked significant backlash on social media platforms.</p>
<p>On January 10, Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), confirmed that the police officer featured in the video had been arrested and was under detention.</p>
<p>Adejobi criticized the officer’s conduct as unethical and stated that he would face disciplinary measures.</p>
<p>He posted on X, “<em>The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police.”</em></p>
<p>Following this announcement, there was an outcry on social media, with many Nigerians demanding that the Okoya brothers also face consequences for their part in the naira abuse.</p>
<p>Social media influencer VeryDarkMan released a video calling for equal justice, urging the police to act against the sons of the billionaire.</p>
