Job Position: Software Engineering Manager

Job Location: Lagos

About the Job

  • Team leads are focussed on delivering excellence in execution.
  • The engineering manager is accountable for delivering projects, prioritizing work for the team, and representing the team’s interests as a point of contact.
  • The team lead understands the big picture, knows how projects fit into the larger context, and can communicate this to the team.
  • Participate in the recruitment and hiring process, identifying and attracting top engineering talent. Nurture and develop the skills and capabilities of team members through ongoing training, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
  • Basic project management skills are a bonus.
  • While you may not be running scrum ceremonies, knowing how to break up work and deliver a project as a team is an essential skill.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains, implementing strategies and initiatives to optimize software development workflows. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to contribute ideas and innovations to enhance productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Scaling and leading our globally distributed software engineering teams (Mobile, Backend, QA)
  • Putting processes in place to ensure high quality and timely delivery of team engineering objectives
  • Managing and contributing at times in our quest to build scalable infrastructure whilst limiting technical debt at all times. Look at engineering solutions through the lens of efficiency, quality, and velocity

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in backend development
  • You are able to code in a backend language (C#,Javascript, Python, Java)
  • You have one significant work experience managing and leading a software engineering team
  • Understanding the overall architecture and function of how multiple technology teams work togethers to build systems
