Simon Ekpa, the activist advocating for Biafra, has stated that he made sacrifices in his political career in Finland in order to focus on the agitation for Biafra’s independence.

Ekpa, who is referred to as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), announced this in a statement made through his official X account on Thursday.

He stated that over the past few years, he has concentrated his efforts on achieving self-rule for Biafra which underscores his dedication to the cause and highlights the ongoing struggle for the region’s independence.

Ekpa’s focus reflects the aspirations of many who seek greater autonomy and recognition for Biafra.

He stressed there is nothing hallow to him other than the cause of liberating Biafra from alleged marginalization by the Nigerian government.

“I have decided not to take part in the coming election and focus on Biafra Liberation in Finland.

“I have served my people, community and region since 2012,” he stated.

Recall that Ekpa had announced that on December 2, 2024 Biafra will be declared.

This comes amid his continued criticism of the Nigerian government despite the plan to extradite him.

In July 2021, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was rearrested by the Nigerian government and has remained in custody despite calls for his release.
