Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Senior Director, Prospect Research & Management (PRM) is a mid-level management position responsible for directing the prospect development program primarily in support of major and principal gift fundraising.

This position serves as the team leader for PRM and is responsible for the overall vision, strategic direction, and proactive management of all prospect research and prospect management activities. Core responsibilities include implementing a formal vision and strategic plan for PRM’s long-term growth and success, leading the development of new and enhanced policies, procedures, and protocols for prospect development functions, building a solutions-oriented team culture dedicated to continuous improvement, ensuring PRM has the managerial support and resources required for all clients to have a consistent, high-value experience with prospect development, and providing strategic intelligence, analyses, and recommendations to support data-informed decision making across the enterprise.

The Senior Director, PRM also performs other related duties as assigned; the omission of specific tasks does not preclude the supervisor from assigning responsibilities that are logically related to the position.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of seven years of prospect management and research experience, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Minimum of three years of management and supervision experience required.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the development cycle, especially within the context of higher education fundraising.
  • Expertise in the role of prospect development throughout the cycle and advanced proficiency in the competencies detailed by Apra’s Body of Knowledge.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning.

  • Commitment to the highest standard of professional ethics, especially when working with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of ethics statements and policies as outlined by Apra and other related associations.

The salary range is high $130,000s – high $150,000s.

This position allows for a combination of in-person and telework days as approved by the supervisor. Guidance regarding hybrid work is subject to change at any time to align with operational or business needs.

Physical Demands

While a large portion of time is spent sitting at a desk in front of the computer in a traditional office environment, the senior director will be required to be meet with various internal constituents around campus. Availability to work occasional nights and weekends for time sensitive requests.
