Job title: Senior Digital Manager (London) – Hybrid working (London)

Company: Zinc Network

Job description: Introduction to Zinc Network

Zinc Network is an ISO certified business dedicated to meaningful, measurable change. Zinc conceptualizes and creates programs, interventions, and strategic communications campaigns around some of the world’s most complex problems – from disinformation to extremism, media capture to authoritarianism. We are headquartered in London with offices in Washington, D.C., Tbilisi, and Warsaw with 80+ team members from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.

Zinc works with a broad range of governmental, NGO, and private sector clients, including the UK Home Office (HO); the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); the U.S. Department of State (DOS); UN agencies and missions; and foundations.

Description

We are looking for a Senior Digital Manager, to join our London-based Digital Marketing team. You’ll play an important part in developing innovative digital strategies on a range of Zinc’s projects and campaigns, as well as a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the wider team on a day-to-day basis. You will be required to travel to our London office for a minimum of 2 days per week.

About the role

The Senior Digital Manager is a vital cog in the Digital Marketing team’s mission to deliver high-quality, innovative work across a broad spectrum of digital channels, placements and geographies. You’ll own a wide variety of pieces of work, including strategy, research, auditing and reporting, as well as having accountability for the work and performance of more junior members of the team. Working for an organisation with a strong focus on capacity building, you’ll also be part-digital consultant, offering formal and informal training to our partners, clients and influencer pool.

This role is suited to an experienced digital all-rounder, who is looking to take the next step in their career by showcasing their knowledge and skills. We would expect this to include demonstrable experience and success across a significant combination of: paid social, search and display; social media and community management, influencer marketing, digital strategy, research and analytics (as well as other areas of digital marketing which we would consider to be desirable, see below).

The role reports to the Head of Digital Marketing, and will also include the line management of two or three full-time members of staff, as well as occasional management of freelancers. Some of these staff are London based, while others are abroad or working remotely, meaning strong communication and organisation are crucial to ensure the team remains happy, motivated and delivering exceptional work.

At a time when the digital landscape is rapidly evolving, you’ll be working alongside the rest of the digital leadership group to ensure that Zinc’s responses to work are covering all possible bases and testing new approaches, and not just settling for ‘safe methods’. An ability to trust your own confidence in recommendations and to have a hunger for innovation in the context of international development and social and behavioural change, is a must. You’ll also work closely with other departments, including Creative, Production, Research, AI, Strategy and Project Management.

Key responsibilities:

1. Develop digital marketing strategies: ranging from content strategy to paid and distribution, always referencing budget, performance estimates, considerations for channels and formats, and opportunities for test and learn approaches.

2. Performance-related marketing strategy and evaluation: leading on the structuring and setting of objectives and KPIs at the very start of campaigns, ensuring these reflect the content, channels and audiences involved and asking about the big picture ‘what’ questions for the business and client. Ensuring this information is consistent throughout projects, from strategy development, to implementation and evaluation.

3. Analyse and audit existing or historic performance of clients, partners and campaigns: carrying out deep-dive analysis of social channels and websites, leading to significant and innovative recommendations for growth. Not settling for the tried and tested, to ensure what’s delivered possesses the necessary ‘wow factor’ to engage the target audience.

4. Have a strong, confident voice on analytics, performance and required tracking: applying methods to strategic recommendations and ongoing campaign management, with a solid relationship with other departments (in particular Strategy and MREL).

5. Implement, manage and optimise campaigns across multiple platforms: working with more junior members of the team to ensure ‘live’ campaigns are efficient, optimised and ultimately successful. Predominantly through organic and paid social, but also incorporating search, display and programmatic where appropriate; constantly on the lookout for new platforms and approaches to reach the right audience.

6. Line management and staff development: ensuring direct reports have up-to-date, achievable and relevant goals, factoring in the requirements and expectations of their own job descriptions. Also ensuring team members feel valued and empowered to bring their best work to the table every day. Where necessary, stepping in to assist direct reports with their day-to-day work.

7. Work collaboratively with other internal or external teams: be it Strategists, Project Directors/Managers, Designers or Analysts to produce campaigns, creative ideas, targeting opportunities, and develop innovation opportunities.

8. Capacity building: creating and delivering training sessions, workshops and mentoring on a range of digital subjects, including paid social, channels, community management and analytics.

9. Personal development: taking ownership of training and development opportunities, both for themselves and their mini
