Roles & Responsibilities:

You will have a significant impact on the lives of children with challenging behaviours and special educational needs as a SEN Teaching Assistant. Among your duties will be the following:

  • Supporting students’ social and academic development by following the direction and supervision of the SENCo
  • Working with small groups or one-to-one, depending on the needs of the child
  • Implementing individual education plans and behaviour management strategies
  • Assisting the teacher with planning, preparation, and assessment
  • Providing feedback and reports on the progress and development of the children

Requirements:

  • Candidates with experience in care and support work are preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable but not required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children with diverse learning needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in supporting students with SEN would be beneficial.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
