Manchester City winger Savinho has expressed confidence ahead of their Champions League tie first leg against Real Madrid.

The match at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday marks the fifth time in five years that both teams have faced each other in the competition.

Despite City’s struggles this season, Savinho said the squad remains focused and prepared for the challenge.

“These are the games I came to Manchester City to play in, and every big player wants to play in them,” he told ESPN.

“We’ve played Madrid a lot in recent seasons, so we stayed calm when the draw was made.”

Savinho, who spent last season in Spain with Girona, said he is familiar with their style of play and highlighted the quality of Brazilian internationals Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo.

“They have great players. Real Madrid are among the best teams in the world, so we hope to put on a great show. Hopefully, luck is on our side and Manchester City can progress,” he added.

Manchester City recently bounced back from a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal with a 2-1 FA Cup win over Leyton Orient.

They have lost only two of their last 11 matches after a poor run of nine defeats in 12 games before Christmas.
