Job Position: Safety Assistant
Job Location: Ota, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Duties
- Making sure that equipment is working properly, inspecting machinery for defects, and ordering repairs as needed
- Providing first aid in emergencies and monitoring the condition of ill workers until medical help arrives
- Preparing workers for emergencies by conducting fire drills and evacuation simulations
- Maintaining records of accidents, injuries, and near misses to help prevent future incidents
- Observing work areas for unsafe conditions and taking appropriate action to correct the issue
- Maintaining a safe work environment by following safety procedures, rules, and regulations
- Educating employees about safety rules and regulations, equipment usage, and accident prevention techniques
- Training new workers in safety procedures and performing routine inspections to ensure compliance
Requirements
- NCE / ND / HND in Safety Management, Engineering or relevant field is preferred
- Certificate in occupational health and safety
- Proven experience as safety assistant
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- In-depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
Expected salary: 70000 per month
