JOB PURPOSE

Closely collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand reporting needs and requirements for Finance to comply with regional/state statutes. Apply advanced analytics techniques and statistical modeling to improve decision making and operational performance practices at the regional level. Create and simplify data flows, data models, reports, General Fund Budget (GFB), Annual Financial Reports (AFR), dashboards, and fiscal information reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead needs and requirement analysis to develop business intelligence capabilities that aggregate, analyze, and publish data to Local Education Agency (LEA) or school websites to comply with state regulations, primarily Act 370
  • Develop and update dashboards and other tracking tools regarding financial data.
  • Analyze large raw data sets to gain insight and create “AHA” moments.
  • Assist in analyzing best mechanisms to report data using current information systems for external stakeholder visibility.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at various levels in departments ranging from Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing and Enrollment, and Education/Schools
  • Identify roadblock and communicate them to leadership with a solution focus and mindset as it relates to developing or completing work.
  • Develop a mechanism to communicate updated school-based finance and accounting information to the school leadership directly from various computer systems.
  • Gain knowledge matter expert regarding state/regional governmental finance reporting (LAUGH Guide) and communicate knowledge to internal stakeholders.
  • Comply with the formatting designated by the state reporting agencies and legislature.
  • Troubleshoot program logic in a well-organized and systematic manner.
  • Proactively analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement/best practices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, statistics or other related quantitative methods from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Strong ability to understand and analyze user requirements as it relates to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential (lookups, pivot tables, nested logic functions, interfacing with OLAP cubes, etc.)
  • Proficiency in business analytics, with demonstrated ability to draw conclusions from the data and provide insight into why the business is evolving.
  • Experience with data visualization and BI tools (Tableau and Power Bi preferred)
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously in a high production environment.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent listening

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Travel within or outside of state.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA’s policy.
