JOB PURPOSE: Create and implement a system of compliance in regard to student attendance and engagement. The system must be comprised of a process to align students and families with the attendance requirement set by the Louisiana Department of Education. Develops action plans consistent with established guidelines set by the LDOE. Motivate students to engage in their educational process with plans for improvement in student achievement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction/Education Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements a program of compliance which aligns with the LDOE attendance requirements
  • Makes purposeful and appropriate efforts to reengage students who have had an excessive number of absences
  • Presents factual data to students to maximize learning opportunity and provides real-world, application based examples and learning opportunities.
  • Reviews student records to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each student’s abilities and needs. Maintain accurate and complete student records.
  • Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
  • Utilizes diagnostic assessment of student learning on a frequent basis in addition to attendance records
  • Maintains accurate and completes student records.
  • Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel and/or necessary outside agencies
  • Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for the continual improvement of the school’s curriculum.
  • Assists in the on-going curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study.
  • Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
  • Works as a liaison between Law Enforcement and school officials when handling situations deemed necessary to involve Law Enforcement

School/Community Relations

  • Strives to establish cooperative relations and makes reasonable effort to communicate with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Communicates clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via all appropriate mediums.
  • Cooperates with members of the administration, other staff and with CSUSA.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student records.
  • Participates in parent communication activities.
  • Participates in extracurricular activities to ensure a positive school culture and provide support for students and staff (as required).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of Bachelors degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Education with a minimum of 3 years of work experience working with students in a educational environment.

  • Ability and comfortability in visiting the homes of students to meet with families regarding excessive absences.

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA’s policy.
