A wave of grief has swept through social media following the sudden death of a young Nigerian man known online as @BasketballProfe, a popular basketball punter who had built a following for his betting predictions.
The deceased had earlier hinted at his health challenges, announcing his temporary withdrawal from online activity.
In a brief post, he wrote, “Sick. Won’t be here for now.”
Shortly after, he shared an image from a hospital bed, showing his hand with medical tubing held by cellotape instead of plaster, a detail that initially stirred debate online.
He captioned the photo, “First time ever. It is well.”
Sadly, just hours later, news of his death was confirmed by a close friend. While the specific cause of his illness and passing was not disclosed, tributes have since poured in from followers, friends, and fans, many expressing disbelief and heartbreak.
