Job Brief

  • We’re looking for a Procurement Officer to join our team.
  • You will be responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services for our company.
  • You will work closely with our team of buyers and suppliers to ensure that we are getting the best possible prices for the goods and services we need.

Duties

  • Review procurement documents and prepare orders
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers
  • Develop and monitor cost-reduction strategies
  • Monitor supplier performance
  • Meet with suppliers when needed
  • Develop and monitor inventory control procedures
  • Develop and monitor purchasing policies
  • Manage vendors
  • Develop and implement IT policy within the procurement department
  • Understand, analyze, and evaluate enterprise-wide procurement requirements for products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Encourage continuous improvement in competitive bidding practices
  • Track inventory levels and manage purchasing activities
  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures
  • Manage claims and losses
  • Track and schedule all materials, equipment, and personnel purchase orders
  • Open new accounts as needed
  • Review supplier proposals and invoices
  • Discuss and analyze material and equipment needs with architects and engineers
  • Track and report budgets by month, budget variance, and actual budget
  • Develop cost control plans
  • Document policies and procedures
  • Improve operations through process improvements
  • Develop and implement systems to monitor vendor performance
  • Attend vendor meetings
  • Coordinate with staff, operations personnel, and outside agencies to ensure materials, equipment, and services are available when needed
  • Assist with contract.

Requirements and Skills

  • Candidates should possess HND / B.Sc Degrees in Business, Finance, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in procurement, contract management, or supply chain
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, and demonstrated ability to synthesize information from many sources.
