Police allegedly assault man, girlfriend for refusing phone check

Nigerian police officers have allegedly assaulted a man and his girlfriend for reportedly refusing to allow their phones to be searched.

This claim was made in a post shared on the popular social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

In the footage, the officers are confronted by bystanders who witnessed the incident.

The man, who was reportedly targeted for a phone check, is seen being held back by another individual to prevent a confrontation, while his girlfriend can be heard speaking in the background.

During the exchange, one of the officers allegedly slapped the woman, sparking further outrage.
