Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has criticized Marcus Rashford’s attitude following his ongoing exclusion from the team.
Scholes call for the 27-year-old to be “banished” from the dressing room.
Rashford, who has not played since December 12, has expressed his desire for a “new challenge” and has been left out of matchday squads by manager Ruben Amorim, apart from one game where he was an unused substitute.
Amorim recently escalated the criticism by suggesting he would prefer to name 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital on the bench over Rashford due to the forward’s poor training habits.
Speaking on Sky Bet’s The Overlap, Scholes slammed Rashford’s attitude, claiming the England international is setting a bad example for younger players like Alejandro Garnacho.
“He’s let a lot of people down with his attitude,” Scholes said. “At 27, he should be setting the standard for younger players.
“Instead, his behavior sends the wrong message. If he’s not training or living properly, he shouldn’t be in that dressing room influencing others,” he added.
Scholes compared Rashford’s current behavior to a mistake he made during his playing days, recounting how Sir Alex Ferguson reprimanded him for letting his teammates down.
