A late header from Victor Osimhen salvaged a 1-1 draw for Nigeria’s Super Eagles against Benin Republic in their AFCON 2025 qualifying clash on Thursday.
The Nigerian team trailed early after Benin’s Mohamed Tijani netted a goal in the 16th minute.
The equalizer came in the 81st minute, as Osimhen converted a well-placed cross from Moses Simon, ensuring Nigeria’s unbeaten streak in the qualifiers.
With this result, the Super Eagles remain at the top of Group A with 11 points from five games, having secured three wins and two draws.
The Super Eagles had already confirmed their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as Rwanda’s 1-0 loss to Libya earlier in the day sealed Nigeria’s qualification.
