Popular rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, known as Odumodublvck, has ignited a heated debate after declaring John Mikel Obi as the greatest Nigerian footballer of all time.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the ‘Cast’ hitmaker boldly stated, “Mikel Obi is the greatest Nigerian footballer of all time,” sparking mixed reactions from fans and football enthusiasts.

While some agreed with his opinion, others strongly disagreed, naming football legends such as Rashidi Yekini, Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, Stephen Keshi, and Christian Chukwu as greater players.

One user, @GideonGeorge, countered, “Mikel is not the greatest but the most successful, the greatest is Okocha.”

Another, @mmakachi, added, “You know wetin be greatest? Him no even near Stephen Keshi or Chairman Christian Chukwu.”

@OddFeature__ added, “On paper with stats perhaps, but on the pitch it can only be one answer and ‘he was so good they named him twice’.. Thank you sir for your time 🙏🏽.”

Here’s a little about Mikel Obi

Despite the debate, Mikel Obi’s achievements remain undeniable. At Chelsea, he won multiple trophies, including two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the 2012 UEFA Champions League.

On the international stage, he played a key role in Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations triumph and won an Olympic bronze medal in 2016.

In 2013, he was also the African Footballer of the Year runner-up, further cementing his legacy.

As the debate continues, many fans question whether Mikel’s success translates to being Nigeria’s greatest footballer or if legendary figures like Okocha, Yekini, and Kanu hold that title.
