<p> Nurses play a key role in our team environment. Our nurses are responsible for ensuring that the health care needs of our clients are met in conjunction with our Paramedic team.</p>
<p> Direct Patient Care Activities</p>
<ul>
<li>Incorporates health and wellness promotion and health teaching in patient encounters</li>
<li>Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements and evaluates plan of care for all occupational and non-occupational health concerns</li>
<li>Consults with collaborating physician when required, based upon scope of practice regulations. Consults and updates the Medical Director as required</li>
<li>Provides Return-to-Work and Workers&#8217; Compensation assessment, treatment and follow-up for client populations specified under the InnuMed Inc. contract</li>
<li>Conducts diagnostic testing (including venipuncture collection electrocardiography, pulmonary function, and audiometric testing) and interprets results, consulting collaborative physician as indicated</li>
<li>Consults/collaborates with other health care providers to provide comprehensive patient care</li>
<li>Documents all interventions completed</li>
<li>Conducts periodic health screening clinics</li>
<li>Performs delegated public health functions including influenza vaccination</li>
<li>Conduct PCR swabs as needed</li>
<li>Maintains awareness of and functions exclusively within the provincially legislated regulations for The College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).</li>
<li>Routinely checks and maintains all clinic-based and emergency medical equipment including medications on a weekly basis (or more frequently as required)</li>
</ul>
<p> Indirect Patient Care Activities</p>
<ul>
<li>Acts as liaison between InnuMed medical/nursing staff and their contracted clients to coordinate patient care</li>
<li>Reviews pre-placement and periodic medicals upon request</li>
<li>Completes periodic audits of patient charts to identify testing required and potential health issues for future program development</li>
<li>Works in collaboration with VNL site staff and physician/medical director to identify, track and treat identified health concerns within the employee population</li>
<li>Performs occupational hygiene checks in designated food preparation areas at site</li>
<li>Liaison with public health officials in relation to any public health issues or concerns.</li>
<li>Conducts periodic tours to maintain familiarity with work environment</li>
<li>Performs weekly water sampling on potable water for offsite public health testing</li>
<li>Routinely checks and maintains all clinic-based and emergency medical equipment including medications on a weekly basis (or more frequently as required)</li>
</ul>
<p> Administrative/Support Activities</p>
<ul>
<li>Works in conjunction with other InnuMed staff on health and wellness program development for clients under the InnuMed contracts as well as for clients of InnuMed general</li>
<li>Participates in continuing education/professional growth activities</li>
<li>Develops and updates clinical documents, policies and protocols (both medical/nursing and those in support of services to the contracted clients), and education materials for staff</li>
<li>Active role in procurement of necessary medical equipment and supplies</li>
<li>Active role in Vale health surveillance programs: pulmonary function, audiology and biological monitoring are examples</li>
<li>Maintains statistics on all occupational and non-occupational clinic visits</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Qualifications</b></p>
<p> You&#8217;re the missing piece of the puzzle</p>
<ul>
<li>Successful completion and graduation from a Bachelor of Nursing program or equivalent</li>
<li>Minimum 5 years of Nursing experience with at least 3 years emergency room/critical care, or emergency nursing combined with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written skills</li>
<li>Current registration (or eligibility to register) with The College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)</li>
<li>A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in management of operations</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to build effective teams and provide strong Management</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills &; relationship building skills</li>
<li>Ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to design and implement policy, procedures and improvement initiatives</li>
<li>Successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision-making</li>
<li>Ability to wear many hats in a fast paced environment</li>
<li>Committed to delivering the highest standard in patient care and client experience</li>
<li>Experience, knowledge, and proficiency in Occupational Health Nursing and/or industrial nursing an asset (or willingness to pursue same)</li>
<li>Medication administration including strong knowledge of advanced and critical care medications</li>
<li>Demonstrates advanced physical assessment and critical thinking skills, and synthesizes findings to identify an appropriate diagnoses and develop a plan of care for each patient presentation</li>
<li>Experience in policy and program development an asset</li>
<li>Evidence of health teaching experience (peer/professional and client-centered) an asset</li>
<li>Experience in EKG Interpretation, Venipuncture, Pulmonary Function and Audiometric testing and Interpretation</li>
<li>Current CPR, ACLS, ITLS</li>
<li>Proven experience in the field of administration of industrial construction site medical services</li>
<li>Non-Dot urine drug screening</li>
<li>Non-Dot Breath Alcohol screening</li>
<li>Class 5 NL driver&#8217;s license with abstract</li>
<li>Audiology course, or willing to obtain in first year of hire</li>
<li>Pulmonary function course, or willing to obtain in first year of hire</li>
<li>Fit Testing experience, instructor certification preferred</li>
<li>WHMIS training an asset</li>
<li>Evidence of active participation in professional growth and development activities</li>
