- NASU members plan to resume their suspended strike due to four unpaid salaries from the Federal Government.
- Prince Peters Adeyemi, the General Secretary of NASU, disclosed this information during the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
- The NEC is expected to finalize their decision during the meeting, although an exact start date for the strike has not been specified.
Members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Other Associated Institutions (NASU) have declared their intention to recommence their halted strike due to the non-payment of four months’ salaries by the Federal Government.
Prince Peters Adeyemi, the General Secretary of NASU, conveyed this information during the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
Although he did not provide a specific date for the strike’s resumption, it is expected that the NEC will reach a conclusive decision during the course of the meeting.
Prince Adeyemi emphasized that the members’ tolerance has diminished, stating, “We are going to resume the suspended strike.”
It is worth noting that President Tinubu had, in October 2023, instructed that NASU and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) members receive payment for two of the four months’ salaries that were withheld by the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022, following an extended strike over unresolved issues.
