A young Nigerian man has successfully recovered ₦2 million — including ₦40,000 in POS charges — after allegedly being extorted at gunpoint by officers from the FCID Alagbon in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The case came to light after social media user @YemieFash raised the alarm on X (formerly Twitter), tagging Lagos Police PRO Ben Hundeyin. According to his post, the victim was accused of trading cryptocurrency and was forced to transfer ₦2 million without any formal charges or documentation.

“Some officers from the FCID Alagbon held the young man at gunpoint and forced him to make the transfer,” @YemieFash wrote, stressing that the victim could identify the officers despite lacking photos or contact information.

Thanks to the public outcry and swift intervention by authorities, the full ₦2,040,000 was refunded. @YemieFash expressed gratitude to AIG Margaret Ochalla of FCID Alagbon, PRO @mayegunAmina, and the Police Complaint Response Unit for their quick response. He also confirmed that the officers involved have been detained and are now facing disciplinary action.

The incident has since sparked conversation online, with many Nigerians applauding the outcome and calling for broader police reform to prevent similar abuses in the future.
