<p>The <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/ncs"><strong>Nigeria Customs Service</strong></a> (NCS) has honoured Olanike Nafisat Balogun for making history as its first female pilot.</p>
<p>In a statement shared on December 8, 2024, NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada praised Balogun’s ambition and dedication to the Service.</p>

<p>Balogun began her NCS career in 2002 and steadily advanced her qualifications, earning an Advanced Diploma in Air Ticketing and Cabin Services, a Master’s in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, and a Pilot Certification from the Flying Academy in <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/?s=Miami"><strong>Miami</strong></a>, Florida, all with the support of the NCS.</p>
<p>Now a Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Balogun is the first female pilot in the NCS Airwing, a role that has made her an inspiration for women within and beyond the Service.</p>
<p>Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged the challenges she faced, particularly her decision to remain in public service when others chose more <strong>lucrative airline jobs</strong>.</p>
<p><em>“Staying in the Service was tough, but I was determined to contribute to public service and fulfill my dream of becoming a pilot,”</em> Balogun said.</p>
<p><em>“I hope my journey will motivate young Nigerians, especially women, to chase their dreams and overcome barriers,”</em> she added.</p>
<p>The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, commended Balogun’s achievement, highlighting it as evidence of the Service’s commitment to fostering talent and innovation.</p>
<p><em>“Her story exemplifies what is possible with determination and institutional support,”</em> he remarked.</p>
<p>Balogun’s groundbreaking accomplishment is being celebrated as a milestone for gender representation and professional excellence in the Nigeria Customs Service.</p>
