<p><strong>Newcastle United</strong> have stepped up their pursuit of <a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/wolves"><strong><u><b>Wolverhampton Wanderers</b></u></strong></a> forward <a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/matheus-cunha"><strong><u><b>Matheus Cunha</b></u></strong></a>.</p>
<p>The Magpies make early contact with the Brazilian’s camp over a potential summer move, reports talkSPORT.</p>
<p>The 25-year-old, who joined Wolves permanently from Atlético Madrid in 2023, has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs after scoring 15 goals in all competitions this season.</p>
<p>Despite recently signing a new deal, Cunha remains a hot property, thanks in part to a £62.5 million release clause.</p>
<p>Manchester United are also in the mix, viewing Cunha as a potential fit for manager Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.</p>
<p>The Red Devils are seeking a dynamic No. 10 to bolster their attack, but have yet to initiate formal talks.</p>
<p>Newcastle, however, appear to have moved ahead in the race by initiating discussions through the player’s representatives.</p>
<p>Cunha’s agent is expected in England for face-to-face meetings with interested clubs, including United.</p>
<p>Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have also shown interest, but Forest’s pursuit may falter due to the forward’s preference for a big-six club.</p>
<p>Arsenal, meanwhile, are focused on other targets, with Viktor Gyökeres and Nico Williams reportedly ahead of Cunha on their shortlist.</p>
<p>Cunha’s on-field discipline has been a concern. He recently served a four-match suspension and was fined £50,000 following a red card against Bournemouth.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, he remains Wolves’ top scorer and returns to action this weekend against Tottenham.</p>
