Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has drawn a parallel between the departures of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Manna stated that the club was “almost blackmailed” into selling the Georgian winger to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Manna reflected on Napoli’s winter transfer window, addressing why the club failed to secure deals for Danilo and Pietro Comuzzo.

He stated that Napoli’s financial stability and commitment to sustainable growth meant they couldn’t make reckless spending decisions, even if it meant losing top players like Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia.

Napoli made a formal offer for former Juventus captain Danilo, with an agreement fully in place. However, the Brazilian chose to join Flamengo instead.

“Everything was agreed upon, and we expected him to arrive within days,” Manna revealed. “But he made a different life choice.”

For Fiorentina’s Comuzzo, Napoli saw him as a future investment, planning to loan out Rafa Marin to make space.

Despite submitting a written offer, the club pulled out when the valuation exceeded their budget.

Manna reassured fans that Napoli remains in a strong position, with Champions League qualification the primary goal.
