Nigerian international Moses Simon is in the process of obtaining French citizenship, according to reports from Foot Boom.
However, despite this development, the Nantes winger remains ineligible to represent France at the international level.
Simon, 29, has spent nearly six years in France since joining Nantes from Spanish side CD Leganés in 2019—initially on loan before making the move permanent.
His long stay in the country qualifies him for naturalization, and if successful, he will hold both Nigerian and French passports.
However, FIFA regulations prevent him from switching national allegiance.
Simon has been cap-tied to Nigeria since his competitive debut for the Super Eagles, making any potential move to Les Bleus impossible.
Since arriving at Nantes, Simon has been a key player for the Canaries, making 189 appearances across all competitions, scoring 34 goals, and registering 39 assists.
He recently celebrated a personal milestone with the birth of his first son, adding to his growing family.
Simon will join several other Super Eagles players who hold dual nationality, including Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong, and Ademola Lookman.
However, like them, his international future remains solely with Nigeria.
