Job description: JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing Director (MD), UK is an essential part of ACE’s Strategic Communications Team, leading all aspects of our in-country strategic communications efforts, including but not limited to: creative strategy, creator marketing, vendor management, and digital/out-of-home/print advertising. Strong candidates will bring a breadth and depth of experience in digital advertising, media, brand management, and communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Climate and energy strategy: This position will oversee and support the development of country-specific strategies to: 1) remove the social license of the fossil fuel industry to pollute and degrade the local environment, drive climate- and fossil-fuel-related disasters, and negatively affect public health, 2) accelerate the consumer adoption of retail level renewable energy technologies, and 3) support the acceleration of decarbonized energy, industry and transport overall, as well as renewable energy job creation across the UK
- Community development and management: Launch our UK Creator Collective and create a strong sense of community for the in-country creator community with frequent virtual meetups, learning opportunities, and professional development.
- Marketing strategy and analytics: Strong candidates will be able to self-initiate to stay up-to-date with local and country-wide climate and energy issues, trends in the media diets of those in the UK, and new and emerging technology in the social and digital media sectors in the UK. The best candidates will be able to both develop strategic rapid response and long-term content strategy for our UK creator community, and our broader integrated marketing strategy in specific markets across the region.
- Partnerships and vendors: Excellent candidates will have deep experience in managing local vendors in the UK across digital advertising, out-of-home, print and other marketing verticals. The strongest candidates will have experience working with creators and running large-scale creator marketing campaigns. This position will require excellent soft skills to be able to manage and engage a wide swath of diverse partners ranging from civil society NGOs to marketing and creator agencies, and technology partners. This position will also be responsible for ensuring vendors, creators and sub-grantees receive timely contracts, terms and conditions, and payments, with the support of our operations team.
- Research and Evaluation: This position will be responsible for organizing and compiling data, analyzing it, and reporting back performance of the in-country program with suggestions on how to improve performance, and generate deeper impact. In addition, this position will work closely with our Research and Experimentation Director and external partners to routinely test and evaluate our efforts to ensure we are having the intended impact that we seek.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-4 years demonstrated years of experience in digital advertising, media, brand management, or marketing. The strongest candidates will have led creative strategy, creator marketing, consumer research, vendor management, and/or digital/out-of-home/print advertising in previous roles
- Strong in-country network connections within the digital advertising and marketing sectors and understanding of media trends and diets in the UK. The best candidates will have experience working directly on climate, clean energy, or related issues, and/or be directly connected to other entities working on these issues
- Excellent technological skills and technical fluency required, including experience working with: CRMs, Learning Management Systems, ESPs, websites, social media advertising platforms (e.g. Meta: Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc…)
- Comfortable working an 8-hour shift daily with at least four hours of overlap with the Eastern Time Zone (New York, USA)
- Candidates must be fluent in English. Strong candidates may be fluent in other languages such as: Scots, Welsh, Polish, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali, or Gujarati
- Ability to manage multiple projects with thoroughness, accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism
- Collaborative and communicative work style to work with colleagues in all teams across ACE
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excitement to bring new ideas to the table, an ability to self-initiate creativity and entrepreneurialism, and a desire to engage others in creative discussion
- Ability to troubleshoot challenges with patience and creativity
- Analytical and strategic mindset
- Ability to adapt as necessary to fulfill additional roles, responsibilities, and opportunities in development programming as necessary

Desired Qualifications
- Professional certifications, degrees, or training in digital marketing, creator marketing, Salesforce, database management, data reporting & analysis, or related field(s)
- Video editing or other types of media production
- Desire and willingness to be on camera
