Manchester City thrashed Luton 5-1 to send a strong message to rivals Arsenal and Liverpool as they reclaim the top spot in the Premier League.

After a resilient defensive effort from Luton kept the scoreline at 1-0 for over an hour, Manchester City’s attack eventually broke through.

Mateo Kovacic’s goal on 64 minutes provided the breakthrough, easing any nerves among the home fans at The Etihad.

Erling Haaland’s penalty on 76 minutes extended Manchester City’s lead, followed by a response from Ross Barkley for Luton.

However, City quickly regained control with goals from Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol in the closing minutes, sealing the emphatic win.

Pep Guardiola’s side is now unbeaten in their last 27 matches, despite making changes to the starting lineup.

The victory not only took them back to the top of the league but also bolstered their goal difference.
