<p><strong>Manchester United</strong> are preparing to rival <a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/chelsea"><strong>Chelsea</strong></a> in the race to sign <a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/ipswich-town"><strong>Ipswich Town</strong></a> striker <a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/liam-delap"><strong>Liam Delap</strong></a>.</p>
<p>The 20-year-old has emerged as a key summer target following an impressive Premier League campaign.</p>
<p>Delap, who joined Ipswich from Manchester City last summer in a deal worth £20 million, has netted 12 goals in his debut top-flight season.</p>
<p>Despite Ipswich’s ongoing relegation battle, the young forward has attracted interest from top-tier clubs for his consistent performances.</p>
<p>According to ESPN, United, under Ruben Amorim have identified Delap as their preferred centre-forward option, pivoting away from more expensive targets such as Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen.</p>
<p>Financial prudence is believed to be a driving factor, with Delap’s potential fee of around £40 million presenting a more affordable solution.</p>
<p>Chelsea, also in search of attacking reinforcements, remain keen on securing Delap’s signature as they look to add a young and proven Premier League scorer to their ranks.</p>
