A young Nigerian man, Bobola Olumide Oluwatomisin, has been declared wanted over alleged involvement in homosexuality and cultism in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The case gained widespread attention following reports of rising cult-related activities in the area. Community leaders reportedly expressed outrage over Olumide’s alleged same-sex relationship, prompting them to file a formal complaint, citing Nigeria’s law against homosexuality.
Shortly after, the police issued a wanted bulletin, not only accusing Olumide of homosexuality but also naming him as the alleged criminal mastermind behind a notorious cult group, Aiye Confraternity, also known as The Black Axe. The cult group has been linked to ritual activities, violent rival clashes, and other crimes in the Owo community, often leaving casualties in its wake.
Amid the serious allegations, reports indicate that Olumide and his group have fled the community, and so far, none of the suspects have been apprehended.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the matter as residents remain on high alert.
Meanwhile, human rights activists have raised concerns about the criminalization of homosexuality, urging law enforcement to ensure that due process is followed.
