Job title: Maintenance Worker – Skilled (HVAC)

Job description: Goal: Under limited supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance of school facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.
Peformance Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot maintenance problems involving plumbing, structural, electrical and equipment repair or replacement.
- Perform preventive building maintenance duties.
- Peform routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
- Perform routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assist in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
- Assemble and move furniture, hang picutres and bulletin boards, move and set up table and chairs.
- Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls.
- Paints interior and exterior walls.
- Electrical and/or HVAC skills – required
- EPA Certified for Refrigerant – required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Competencies required:
- Must have High School Diploma or GED – Required
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License – Required
- Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of methods, materieals, tools used in facility maintenance.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
- Mandatory pre-employment drug testing.
Terms of Employment:
- Grade 5 on the Classified Pay Scale
- Working Days – 12 Month At-Will; M-Th, 10- hours per day

Evaluation:
- Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
