Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been handed a two-match touchline ban following his red card in the Merseyside derby against Everton earlier this month.
Slot, 46, was dismissed by referee Michael Oliver after a heated 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
He later admitted to letting his emotions get the better of him, reportedly directing a four-letter outburst at officials after Everton’s stoppage-time equalizer.
An independent FA disciplinary hearing found Slot guilty of “improper conduct,” leading to his suspension and a £70,000 fine.
His assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, also received a two-match ban and a £7,000 fine for a similar charge.
The ban takes effect immediately, meaning Slot and Hulshoff will miss Liverpool’s Premier League clashes against Newcastle tonight and Southampton on March 8.
However, Slot will be available for the Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain on March 13, as UEFA competitions fall outside the FA’s jurisdiction.
With Slot and Hulshoff absent, first-team coach Johnny Heitinga will oversee Liverpool’s next two league matches.
The Merseyside derby ended in chaos, with Everton’s James Tarkowski scoring a 98th-minute equalizer.
A post-match altercation between Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucouré led to red cards for both players, while police also intervened.
Liverpool and Everton have been fined £50,000 and £65,000, respectively, for failing to control their players during the incident.
Meanwhile, since the derby, Liverpool have boosted their title hopes with wins over Wolves and Manchester City.
