Victor Boniface has expressed concern over the difficult situation the Super Eagles are facing in Libya, where the team remain stranded.
The Nigerian side are supposed to have their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Mediterranean Knights on Tuesday, but it is now unlikely.
Boniface has not shied away from voicing his frustration of the situation on social media.
In a recent post, he wrote, “This is getting scary now. You guys can have the point. We just want to return to our country.”
The Nigerian national team landed at the Libyan airport on Sunday but has been left without assistance for hours.
Multiple appeals from players and staff on social media appear to have gone unheard, with Libyan authorities providing no concrete help.
The Super Eagles have resolved to boycott the match, showing little concern if Libya is awarded the three points.
Despite a statement from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have yet to address the situation publicly.
While the standoff continues, the stranded Nigerian team are more focused on securing their safe return than participating in the scheduled fixture on Tuesday.
