A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to cry out after allegedly being assaulted by an Indrive driver over a lighthearted joke about deducting “AC money” from his fare — a service she claims was unavailable throughout the ride.
The incident was detailed in a lengthy post she shared on her TikTok page, where she narrated her unpleasant experience.
According to her, she had booked the ride and was informed by the driver that his air conditioning was faulty.
Although initially hesitant, she decided to proceed with the trip out of pity after the driver complained about wasting fuel to come pick her up.
As the journey progressed, she arrived at her estate and was about to make a transfer to pay the driver.
In a playful tone, she joked about deducting part of the fare for the non-functional AC. However, the driver didn’t take the joke lightly.
She noted that his expression remained stern, and moments later, he escalated the matter into a heated confrontation.
In her words:
“I’m never the type to cause trouble, especially at that time of night. When he told me his AC wasn’t working, I told him I wasn’t going anymore because he should have informed me before coming so I could decide whether to continue or not. But I felt sorry for him when he said he had already spent money on fuel, so I agreed to go ahead with the trip.”
“I was upset, though, because it was quite late, and it wasn’t safe to ride with the windows down. When we arrived at my estate, I was about to transfer his money, and I jokingly said I’d deduct money for the AC. He didn’t even look at my face to see I was joking — he just started insulting me. I was still smiling and told him to call out his account number, but he refused and kept asking how much I was going to pay. I still asked him to call his account.”
“Suddenly, he parked the car, stepped out, and started making a scene, pointing his fingers at me. I told him to stop and just call his account number, but out of nowhere, he slapped me twice. I was in shock! I took off my wig, dropped it with my bag, and slapped him back. He then pushed me, grabbed my wig, and tried to drive off.”
“I ran to the estate gate and told the security guards to lock it and prevent him from leaving. Meanwhile, he was speeding towards me with his car while I tried explaining the situation to the guards. He got out again and started hitting me directly in the face, so I had to defend myself.”
“He managed to get to the police station before me and reported the matter, claiming I assaulted him. When I arrived at the station, a female officer asked if I was the person involved. She was shocked when she saw my bruised face and asked what happened. After I explained, she was visibly angry and asked me to wait for further action.”
“When the driver arrived, he lied that I refused to pay and damaged his car. He even falsely accused me of stabbing him with a bottle. Meanwhile, I was crying and bleeding from my mouth. Another female officer stood up for me, insisting the driver should be charged with assault, but the officer he initially reported to dismissed it as ‘two fighting,’ claiming I also tore his clothes.”
“The officer pressured me, saying we would both be locked up unless we settled amicably. She suggested the driver should apologize and I should let it go. I was stunned — I didn’t even have my phone on me to call for help. Eventually, they released him, and he returned my wig, but I left the station heartbroken and in pain.”
“With no means of transportation, I walked home, still crying. By the time I got home, my face was swelling badly. I started calling my friends, and the more time passed, the worse my face looked.”
“Feeling cheated and humiliated, I decided to share his phone number online, asking people to call him out. He even threatened those who reached out to him. I couldn’t believe my face had been disfigured over a simple joke — I never disrespected him in any way.”
“I eventually called out both the driver and @indriver.ng on Instagram, but they ignored me until people started tagging them and leaving comments on their page.”
“I’m so angry because I was never rude to him — he’s just a wicked man. He’s a beast! How can you pick me up, tell me your AC isn’t working late at night, still expect full payment, and then beat me up for no reason? I was even ready to pay in full, but he refused to call his account number just because he already had evil intentions.”
“This man ruined my face and assaulted me brutally for absolutely no reason.”
Following her post, numerous social media users flooded the comment section to express their outrage and share their thoughts on the incident.
