<p class="p1"><span class="s1">As we look forward to the 2027 general elections, the <strong>Labour Party</strong> (LP) has put forward a recommendation.<br /></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The party is suggesting that the presidential ticket should be reserved for <strong>Peter Obi</strong>, the former Governor of Anambra State as they see potentials in Peter Obi.</span></p>

<p>In addition to reserving the presidential ticket for Peter Obi, the Labour Party is also suggesting that the governorship ticket should be reserved for Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State.</p>
<p>The party believes that Governor Otti has shown exceptional performance within this few months of his time in office.</p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">This was disclosed in a communique issued after the party’s National Convention, held in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Wednesday.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s2">“Based on the antecedents of the presidential candidate before, during, and after the 2023 general elections, it was recommended that the 2027 presidential ticket of the party be solely reserved for His Excellency, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, the national leader of the party,” the communique read.</span></em></p>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s2">“Furthermore, the convention in session reviewed the ongoing development and performance of its Governor in Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, and passed a vote of confidence in him and recommended the 2027 Abia State governorship ticket of the party be reserved for Dr. Alex Otti.”</span></em></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Obi was the party’s presential candidate in the 2023 general elections. Having polled 6,101,533 votes, the former governor trailed behind Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who raked in 6,984,520 to come second, and Bola Tinubu who eventually emerged the winner of the keenly contested poll with 8,794,726 votes.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">According to the communique which was signed by the re-elected National Chairman of the party, Comrade Julius Abure, and National Secretary, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, the LP said had reviewed the performance of Obi and Governor Otti, respectively, and had decided to reserve its presidential and governorship ticket for them respectively, in the 2027 general elections.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">The LP also “<em>called on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to <strong>quickly take drastic and proactive steps to save the economy from total collapse to revive the economy and put it on the path of growth and development.</strong>”</em></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">It assured its members across the country of an optimistic and bright future.</span></p>
