Iran’s top military commander, General Ali Shadmani, has reportedly been killed by the Israeli military in a high-precision airstrike on a command center in central Tehran.

According to an official statement released Tuesday, the overnight attack was carried out by the Israeli Air Force based on “precise intelligence and a sudden opportunity.”

The move marks one of the most significant blows to Iran’s military leadership since the outbreak of hostilities between the two nations.

Shadmani, a close ally of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, served as the operational head of the Iranian armed forces.

He had previously commanded both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the regular Iranian army.

His elevation to the role of chief of staff came just days earlier, following the assassination of his predecessor, Alaa Ali Rashid, which triggered the current wave of fighting between Israel and Iran.

In its statement, the Israeli military described the general’s death as a strategic gain.

“His killing adds to a series of eliminations targeting Iran’s most senior military leadership and disrupts the chain of command, the statement said.

The targeted strike is part of an ongoing Israeli campaign aimed at dismantling Iran’s military infrastructure and leadership in the wake of escalating missile exchanges and airstrikes that have pushed the region to the brink of war.

There has been no official confirmation or response from Iranian authorities as of press time.
