<p> Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING STUDENT SUMMER 2024 CO-OP.</p>
<p> This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. <p> We are looking for an exceptional student currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program to join our team of Shipbuilders from the following areas:</p>
<p> Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar)</p>
<p> Education/Training/Social Sciences</p>
<p><b>Qualifications:</b></p>
<p> · Strong academic performance and a desire to excel.</p>
<p> · Proven leadership in professional, athletic, school or community pursuits.</p>
<p> · Interest in the shipbuilding, defense, or marine industry and a desire to join an exciting, fast-paced organization.</p>
<p> · Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.</p>
<p> · Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, openness to learning new technology.</p>
<p> · Skilled in organizing and managing a variety of tasks with varying priorities and is a fast learner and effective problem solver.</p>
<p> All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).</p>
<p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p>
<p> · Provide assistance and make improvements to Production procedures, processes, and controls.</p>
<p> · Interact directly with Production union members, supervisors, and managers, as well as supporting staff stakeholders.</p>
<p> · Execute and/or support operational standardization scope including, but not limited to:</p>
<p> § 5S Standardization</p>
<p> § Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs)</p>
<p> § Performance metrics</p>
<p> § Capacity Analysis</p>
<p> § Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)</p>
<p> § Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)</p>
<p> § Continuous Improvement Initiatives</p>
<p> § Trades-based process standardization</p>
