Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has vowed to provide full compensation to the families of the 16 hunters tragically killed in Uromi.
During a condolence visit to Torankawa village in Bunkure Local Government Area, Okpebholo, accompanied by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other dignitaries, promised both financial aid and food support for the bereaved families.
The governor expressed his deep anger over the senseless killings, declaring that the perpetrators would be held accountable.
“We will ensure that justice is served on those responsible for this heinous act,” Okpebholo stated. “
In response to the tragedy, hundreds of family members and supporters staged a peaceful protest in Torankawa, calling for justice.
Protesters, carrying placards with messages such as “We demand justice for the killings of our people” and “Hunters are not criminals,” marched through the village.
Some protesters, visibly agitated, chanted war songs and waved weapons, but the situation was kept under control by local residents.
