The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has debunked viral reports claiming he collapsed last week, labeling them as false and politically motivated.
Speaking on Thursday after inspecting four ongoing projects in Abuja, including the International Conference Centre (ICC), Wike dismissed the rumors as the handiwork of political opponents trying to discredit him.
“I don’t want to give credence to people who are only interested in spreading rumors. First of all, I am a human being, not a ghost. If someone collapses, it is a human being that collapses, not a ghost. Unfortunately, I did not collapse. I didn’t show any signs of having a health problem.
“Let me tell you what happened. You see, the former Head of Service of Rivers State came out to reveal what was going on – how they planned to bomb the House of Assembly complex, how they planned to attack national assets… To divert attention away from that, they had to spread a rumor that I had been flown overseas. There was never a time I collapsed. There was never a time anyone took me to the hospital.”
Wike reassured Nigerians that he is in good health and fully committed to completing key infrastructural projects in the nation’s capital.
He urged the public to disregard the misinformation and focus on the progress being made under his leadership.
