THE ROLE

The HR team supports our expert people and the business to ensure our Company goals are met. The team focuses on the needs of the business by making the workplace a place people prefer. Our current department is made up of 4 critical teams: Talent Acquisition, Reward, Learning & Development and Employee Relations.

British Land will support you in achieving a Level 3 Apprenticeship CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice. During your apprenticeship you will gain experience in a wide range of HR procedures, company policy and current law. You will support the HR team in delivering front-line support to our managers and providing compliance guidance to employees.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • First point of contact for all incoming queries
  • General administration – letter writing, photocopying, scanning, digital filing, payment of invoices
  • Ensure Success Factors, personnel records and reports are kept up to date and accurate
  • Assist with data capture and monthly / quarterly reporting
  • Ensure information, policies and processes are kept up to date both internally and externally
  • Ensure best practice is maintained with regard to company policy and employment legislation
  • Employee reference requests
  • Probation confirmations and extensions
  • Employment contract and offer letter drafting
  • Employee background screening and right to work checks
  • First day communications with new employees, line managers and internal communications
  • Scheduling of first day HR induction and quarterly company induction
  • Ensure compliance through reporting of mandatory training
  • Arrange internal and external training courses for employees
  • Record training on our learning management systems to ensure records are kept up to date
  • Support the reward team in the administration of annual pay and performance reviews and the employee benefits offering across the group
  • Support the ER team with confidential note taking and follow up actions

Other

  • Diary management for the Head of Reward and Head of Secretariat.
  • Planning: anticipate events well in advance, understanding the cycle of work throughout the year.
  • Meetings and communications: attendance at key team meetings and taking down and subsequent tracking of key actions, keeping the teams’ actions on track – have the confidence to chase and keep team members on track.

ABOUT YOU

  • Highly organised and methodical
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Collaborative, team orientated with a positive and open approach
  • Results orientated, with strong commercial acumen
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise workload
  • Poised and articulate with good presentation skills, both written and oral
  • Confidence to communicate effectively with people at a senior level, both internally and externally
  • Solid knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience of Success Factors or similar HR/ATS system desirable
  • Demonstrates an interest in HR
  • Actively seeks innovative ways of working and challenges process
  • Five GCSEs (including English and mathematics) or equivalent
