Ivory Coast left no prisoners in their first clash of the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Guinea-Bissau.
The host nation put up a commanding 2-0 win against their West Africa brothers, to take the lead in Group A.
The match which marked the first-ever meeting between the two teams in the AFCON, saw the Ivorians dominate, as was expected.
Seko Fofana broke the deadlock for his side, scoring in the 4th minute, to hand Ivory Coast an early lead.
Jean-Philippe Krasso added to the tally in the second half, with a goal in the 58th minute, securing a comfortable win for the Elephants.
The victory puts Ivory Coast in a strong position ahead of their upcoming fixture against Nigeria’s Super Eagles on January 18.
Meanwhile, Guinea-Bissau will aim to bounce back from the defeat as they face their next challenge against Equatorial Guinea.
