<p><b>Introduction</b></p>
<p> The Parliamentary Security Department (PSD) is responsible for physical and personnel security across both Houses of Parliament and provides support to Members and staff when away from the Estate. Its purpose is to keep Parliament safe and open for business.</p>
<p><b>The Role</b></p>
<p> The Head of Engagement is a new role which reports to the Security Portfolio Director and will be responsible for influencing and engaging senior stakeholders, both parliament and external, to ensure security considerations are built into all investment or change proposals at an early stage. They will build, lead and develop a small engagement team in a matrix, engaging across projects throughout their lifecycle. The post holder will be the senior business partner for PSD&#8217;s physical security inputs bicamerally, acting as the front door for PSD&#8217;s physical security teams.</p>
<p> This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive engagement expert with a broad knowledge of security related challenges in a complex operational environment working with senior stakeholders. As the post holder you must have experience of developing strategically aligned engagement strategies and plans and be able to navigate complex governance processes effectively.</p>
<p> Some of the responsibilities for this role include: </p>
<ul>
<li>Working with the Portfolio Director, ensure PSD is represented and positioned within critical decision-making forums across Parliament by ensuring appropriate representation on relevant boards and committees, deputising where necessary.</li>
<li>Act as representative for the Client and Security Portfolio Director providing access to specialist security advice as required and delegating at senior boards and committees as necessary.</li>
<li>Work with the Head of Physical Security Planning and Advisory to proactively engage PSD&#8217;s main clients for physical security advice, both internal and external, to identify areas where PSD effort and input is needed and ensuring that PSD inputs into the project and programme governance processes.</li>
<li>Working with staff of the two Houses to ensure relevant committees or member bodies are consulted or engaged as required taking responsibility for the quality and co-ordination of papers to member bodies.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Skills and Experience</b></p>
<p> To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: </p>
<ul>
<li>Experience of managing and effectively delivering engagement strategies and plans across a major and complex delivery portfolio</li>
<li>Demonstrable ability to establish authority and credibility quickly, to build and maintain confident and collaborative relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders based on trust and mutual respect upholding the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion, ensuring that everyone is, at all times, treated with dignity, courtesy and respect.</li>
<li>Skilled at effective collaboration and coordination to promote and champion importance of physical security and need to help lead on resolving complex engagement issues/challenges in an ever-changing complex environment.</li>
<li>Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills, is able to listen to and assimilate a range of inputs and views to shape a proposal.</li>
<li>Experience in a delivery environment in a complex stakeholder-led organisation.</li>
<li>Strong organisational skills with the ability to identify priorities and manage workload for self and others to ensure short and longer-term demands and deadlines are met</li>
