The John Clark Motor Group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Digital & E Commerce to join our Head Office in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities of Head of Digital & E Commerce

The Head of Digital & E Commerce is responsible for the digital marketing strategy for the John Clark Motor Group, including web, SEO, PPC, social media and display marketing. The individual will need to focus on successful channels to drive traffic to our website and optimise conversion points to ensure we meet the business objectives.

  • Manage John Clark Motor Group and retailer websites (where applicable) to maximise our customers on line experience and deliver on the groups business objectives.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a group digital strategy adopting digital best practice “rules” and forward thinking technology to drive traffic to our website while meeting dealership goals.
  • Manage and improve the user experience of our company website including (but not limited to) design, navigation, usability, content and conversion.
  • Evaluate emerging technology and marketing trends to evolve our digital routes to market.
  • Maximise SEO to deliver continual growth and high ranking search results.
  • Develop and implement group social media strategy adopting best practice to drive consumer reach and engagement.
  • Manage the digital photography of all products in line with manufacturer and group standards.
  • Manage the group’s online reputation by responding to all online platform comments and online reviews effectively (e.g. social media, TrustPilot, Google).
  • Oversee the delivery of PPC campaigns, and associated budgets, to ensure we are maximising the performance.
  • Measure and report performance of all digital activity and assess against goals. Drive forward areas of improvements accordingly.
  • Review ongoing competitor digital activity & best practice and recommend appropriate group response.
  • Understand manufacturer’s digital marketing strategy, objectives & operating standards and harmonise dealer group activity accordingly.
  • Responsible for the appropriate budget management for all digital spend, including PPC, website, social media and Autotrader. Including regular spend vs budget analysis and amendments as applicable.

Ecommerce Experience:

  • Managing a cross-functional team and partner network to lead all aspects of the ecommerce business, including: business planning and trade, onsite optimisation, managing workflows, content development, customer service and web analytics.
  • Participating in the development and execution of strategic and tactical business objectives with other members of the senior leadership team supporting the ecommerce strategy.
  • Acting as a project manager to evaluate, prioritise, develop, manage, implement and test ecommerce initiatives.
  • Monitoring site performance and proposing continuous ways to maximise trade and optimise customer experience.
  • Participating in the development and execution of strategic and tactical business objectives with other members of the senior leadership team supporting the ecommerce strategy.

Skills & Experience required for Head of Digital & E Commerce

  • Experience in the setup of e-commerce ERP to ensure the customer experience is at the highest level
  • Experienced and well-rounded digital leader.
  • Commercially astute professional with a strong understanding of our products (desirable) and the competitive ecommerce market.
  • Expertise in digital marketing – focussed on Paid Media, SEO, SEM, Influencer, Affiliates and Email.
  • Experienced in building and growing omnichannel e-commerce business.
  • Possesses a detailed understanding of marketplace optimisation and product launch strategy.
  • Ability to lead and drive a remote based team.
  • Experienced in building relationships across all parts of the business, along with partners and suppliers.
  • Track record of meeting and/or exceeding marketing KPIs and applicable financial performance, aligned to business objectives.
  • Degree in marketing or related field preferred
  • A creative approach with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage and drives customer action.
  • Solid knowledge and experience of website analytic and tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven thinking.
  • Up to date with digital trends and passionate about the future of digital
  • Experience with e commerce preferable
