<p>A <strong>financial accountant in Canada</strong> is responsible for maintaining and reporting on the financial health of a company or organization. <h2><span id="What_You_Will_Be_Doing_as_a_Financial_Accountant"><strong>What You Will Be Doing as a Financial Accountant</strong></span></h2>
<ul>
<li>Prepare general ledger entries related to fixed assets, prepaid assets, intercompany transfers, investments dividends, interest, corporate taxes and any other applicable general ledger accounts</li>
<li>Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including but not limited to bank accounts, credit card statements, capital assets, prepaid assets, and intercompany balances</li>
<li>Assist Corporate Tax consultants to prepare annual tax returns</li>
<li>Prepare memos in relation to accounting policies and issues as they arise</li>
<li>Assist with payment to vendors, including cheque sign off and EFT/Wire payments</li>
<li>Coordinate corporate tax and GST filings and payments on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis</li>
<li>Liaise with the CRA in relation to corporate taxes, GST and payroll taxes</li>
<li>Prepare and complete semi-monthly payroll to all employees, including CRA reporting</li>
<li>Manage company health and welfare benefits program</li>
<li>Review and approve employee expenses on an as needed basis (such as per diem expenses, education compliance, use of company vehicles and other stipends, etc.)</li>
<li>Perform any other job-related duties assigned by the Controller/CFO and management.</li>
</ul>
<h2><span id="Requirements_as_a_Financial_Accountant"><strong>Requirements as a Financial Accountant</strong></span></h2>
<p>What We Would Like You To Bring</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting</li>
<li>CA, CGA, CMA or CPA designation</li>
<li>Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of GAAP, including ASPE and US GAAP</li>
<li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including demonstrated proficiency creating/using pivot tables</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization</li>
<li>Experience with accounting systems is preferred</li>
</ul>
