<p>FIFA’s decision to introduce a halftime show at the <strong>2026 World Cup</strong> final has drawn backlash from football fans, with many arguing that the move undermines the essence of the game.</p>
<p>FIFA President <a target="_blank" href="https://gistreel.com/tag/gianni-infantino"><strong><u><b>Gianni Infantino</b></u></strong></a> confirmed the change, stating that the final at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey will feature a Super Bowl-style performance during the halftime break.</p>
<p>“This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world,” Infantino posted on Instagram.</p>
<p>However, fans have voiced strong opposition on social media, with comments such as “Nobody wants this” and “They’re killing the game” flooding platforms.</p>
<p>Many fear that an extended halftime show could disrupt the flow of the match, which is played only once every four years and draws a massive global audience.</p>
<p>Infantino also announced a ‘Times Square takeover’ for the tournament’s final weekend, featuring entertainment and fan events in New York City.</p>
