Female Support Worker – Weekends Only
If you hold a UK Driving licence, this will be an advantage for being considered for this role if you live outside the immediate area. Whilst there are bus services from Reading to Tadley, they do not coincide with the start and end times of our shifts. Additionally, these do not currently operate on Sundays.

Salary: £10.52 per hour plus benefits.
Hours: 15 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday inclusive)

We are on the lookout for female Bank Weekend Support Workers who are calm, patient, and resilient. You will need to have a consistent approach to assisting the people we support to engage in the interests they love.
Furthermore, as a Bank Weekend Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Daily activities such as personal care; laundry; meal preparation; medication and administration.
- Getting to know the people you will care for/support and help them to live the life they want to live.
- Taking personal responsibility for the quality of care and assistance delivered to the people you will care for/support
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the people you will take care of/support
- Helping the people you will assist live the best quality of life possible.
- Supporting with leisure activities, such as accompanying our service users on walks, exploring the local area, handicrafts and social engagements; always being creative and exploring new opportunities
- Assisting the people, you will assist to manage their personal affairs making, preparing for, and attending any appointments.
- Ensuring the people, you will assist and their families, are treated with respect, dignity, and equality.

We are looking for someone who can devote to 7.5 hours per shift and is willing to work on a rota basis, covering mornings, afternoons and evenings at weekends only.

Who will you be supporting?
You will be supporting 15 residents with life limiting conditions. These include Juvenile CLNR Battens Disease which is a fatal disease affecting the nervous system causing visual impairment, the inability to communicate clearly over time, challenging behaviour, eventual wheelchair use and Epilepsy.
We need people who are kind, caring, resilient and have a sense of humour. You will need to be consistent and compassionate. When our service users are anxious you will need to be calm, and after a tough day, step into the next holding no grudges.
It is essential that you can work as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Providing direct support to our service users with day to day life and activities.
- Ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
- To respect our service users’ individual choices, likes and dislikes and characteristics whilst assisting with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences.
- To work positively with other agencies, parents, carers, and other services to ensure person-centred care.
- Develop and contribute to the maintenance of records and support plans and function as a Keyworker when required.
- To support our service users to maintain a clean-living environment appropriate to meet individual needs.
- To participate in regular and ongoing training.
