EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Water Quality and Environment team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Environmental Permits Specialist.

In your new role, you’ll be ensuring the business has the right environmental permits, carrying out technical assessments and communicating with internal stakeholders across the business and other environmental regulators.

Additionally, you’ll play a vital role in delivering our Environmental obligations, river pledges, ensuring no harm from our operations, through compliance with waste and discharge environmental permit Regulations, in relations to anaerobic digestion, CHP, sludge and tankered imports, and final effluent, storm overflows and clean water discharge.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Advising the business what environmental permits are required to operate and that existing permits remain appropriate.
  • Prepare, submit and manage the process for environmental permit applications.
  • Co-ordinate the internal gathering of information
  • Supporting Operational team with the delivery of permit conditions and be a point of contact for day-to-day permit issues.
  • Supporting improvement of our Management Systems in relation to permit compliance.
  • Working collaboratively with other key teams -to ensure that targets, such as WINEP and our river pledges are delivered.
  • Frequent liaison with our regulators around permitting queries and up and coming obligations (Last bit for specialist more).

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re seeking our new Environmental Permits Specialist to be comfortable working collaboratively with other key teams -to ensure that targets, such as WINEP and our river pledges are delivered.

To be successful, it’s expected that you’ll ideally hold a degree in science/engineering or related discipline, have technical knowledge of sewage or water treatment processes and have some knowledge of environmental legislation.

You’ll have excellent communication skills, take an innovative approach to problem solving and be a good team contributor.

As travel is required, you’ll also be expected to hold a full U.K driving licence.
