The graphic designer responsible for Nigerian billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote‘s 68th birthday banner is faced with ridicule over an obituary-looking design.

The business tycoon marked his birthday on Thursday with warm wishes pouring in from across the globe. What was meant to be a celebratory moment took an unexpected turn after his official X account shared a birthday poster that left many bewildered.

The banner, which featured a solemn portrait of the business mogul with a minimalist design, quickly sparked mixed reactions online. Many mistook it for an obituary, leading to an outpouring of confusion, concern, and then laughter once the truth was clear.

Social media users didn’t hold back in expressing their disappointment at the graphic designer responsible for the poor job.

A social media user @Mayordavid_9 commented, “I thought it was an obituary poster. This your designer no sabi work oooo.”

Another user @TFKhaleed wrote, “2025 and y’all can’t pay a good graphic designer to run this. Still stuck in 1998.”

@ambalium, added: “Pay your graphics team to unlearn and relearn design concepts. Or just sack them all and employ confam professional graphics designers. I can recommend 3 right now sharp sharp. This should not even scale approval in a big company like Dangote. Happy birthday Alhaji Dangote.”

Despite the backlash, the billionaire’s milestone birthday was still widely celebrated, with tributes from business leaders, political figures, and admirers across the world.
