Job description: Aston Martin is investing in infrastructure and as we migrate to the cloud, we are now looking to hire a Cloud Engineer to join us at our Gaydon HQ where you’ll be making a difference.

Working within a team of talented individuals, you’ll be responsible for all azure requirements day-to-day that will include “hands-on” experience building, configuring, and optimizing Azure-based Cloud Services at scale. This should include workloads that utilize Azure Virtual machines, Azure SQL databases, Blob Storage, and AKS. Coupled with the corresponding ancillary functions such as identity and networking requirements (Azure AD, Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute Gateway, Private Endpoints, Virtual Network NAT). You should also have a strong understanding of Azure services within the Enterprise Tenant and experience with on-prem enterprise Windows Server environments.

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in working closely with the Platform Engineering Lead and his team and be responsible for the cloud platform. You will be setting up a regular maintenance schedule to ensure the platform remains stable and bringing your ideas to the table for continuous improvement. You will be integral for the future migration of our cloud environment within AML.

In this role, you’ll be a real people’s person and enjoy building, networking, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders as well as having the technical know-how. As you thrive in building and maintaining working relationships, you’ll be instrumental in managing the relationship with our cloud supplier, Microsoft. You’ll have the opportunity to put your mark on the role and make a difference. This role will give you a real opportunity to make an impact providing you with visibility with the senior leadership team.

We are looking for a confident, driven person with exceptional communicating skills with the confidence to influence and persuade as and when required. You’ll have excellent time management and organisational skills as you’ll be working to a fast pace with ever changing priorities/deadlines, using your own judgement and decision making before issues arise. You’ll also be proficient in Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, Docker and Microsoft365

Ideally, you’ll be educated to degree level within either Computer Science or related discipline or extensive experience gained within a similar fast-paced sized organisation within an industry. You’ll have 2 or more Microsoft Azure certifications at intermediate level within Azure Solutions Architect Expert and Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert.

You’ll be part of a small team of 5, and report directly to the Platform Engineering Lead as well as working closely with the Head of IT Operations.

This is a hybrid role with visits to Gaydon as and when required. The working pattern is 7.30am – 4.30pm Mon – Thurs and 7.30am – 12.30pm Friday but days can be flexible based on any technical issues that may arise throughout the week. There is an occasional weekend and evening work requirement dependent on business/project requirements with the rare occasional travel to other sites.
