<p> <b>The Opportunity:</b></p>
<p> Working within our , the Clinical Counsellor, Child &; Youth and Families provides counselling support to newcomer, immigrant and refugee individuals and families. This role will involve in-person services for children, youth and their families. This role will include providing group sessions for camps focused on mental health and wellness. Our counselling services and interventions are individualized for each client and family, with the aim of reducing barriers the client is facing and increasing capacity through a strength-based therapeutic approach. To serve the needs of our community, candidates must be able to provide service in English and Arabic/ Punjabi/ Spanish/ Dari/ Pashto/ Mandarin.</p>
<p> <b>Key Responsibilities:</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>Develop strong therapeutic relationships with clients and families to achieve their goals and meet their needs;</li>
<li>Provide group and psycho-educational support for children, youth and families facilitated alongside other program activities;</li>
<li>Develop and modify group curriculum reflecting most emergent practice and evidence based support;</li>
<li>Collaborate with colleagues to identify groups and activities as relevant to the demographic of children and youth;</li>
<li>Participate in client service planning alongside clients and other counsellors within the department;</li>
<li>Complete screenings and assessments for referral clients;</li>
<li>Establish a supportive, therapeutic relationship with clients and their support systems;</li>
<li>Develop crisis and service plans with each client and their supports to support and maintain client wellness as needed;</li>
<li>Establish and maintain non-judgemental therapeutic relationships with clients, and collaborate and consult with colleagues and other community resources;</li>
<li>Assist with developing/providing education services as required, and participate in integrated service delivery;</li>
<li>Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional development, evaluation and quality improvement activities;</li>
<li>Maintains program records containing statistics, and other paperwork relevant to the program and specifically statistics on referrals and service delivery.</li>
<li>Maintain client records, case notes, and service plans.</li>
<li>Ability to navigate internal systems and computer programs used for data entry.</li>
<li>Make referrals to other services as needed.</li>
</ul>
<p> <b>Mandatory Qualifications:</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>Masters degree in counselling, psychology, social work or a related discipline from a recognized program;</li>
<li>Fluency in Arabic/ Punjabi/ Spanish/ Dari/ Pashto/ Mandarin.</li>
<li>A minimum of 2-years of recent experience facilitating pyscho-educational groups and group therapy or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.</li>
</ul>
<p> Qualified candidates will also posses: </p>
<ul>
<li>Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation from the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors is preferred. Individuals in the process of obtaining their designation may be considered;</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;</li>
<li>Strong computer skills, including Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams);</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently;</li>
<li>Class 5 BC Drivers License and access to a vehicle.</li>
</ul>
<p> A criminal record check is required as a part of this process.</p>
