Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Brentford striker Ivan Toney as their top summer transfer target, with the Bees gunning for a club-record fee.
According to reports by UK SunSport, Chelsea see Toney as their “number one target” for the upcoming transfer window.
“Brentford are reportedly asking for a fee exceeding £80 million for the striker, who has been in impressive form since returning from a gambling ban.
Chelsea are expected to offload several players to meet financial fair play requirements if they were to secure Toney’s signature at such a high price.
Meanwhile, manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be a strong advocate for Toney, seeing him as a player who can elevate the team to the next level.
Also, Arsenal have shown interest in Toney as they seek to strengthen their attacking options.
This development comes after reports revealed Toney was contemplating a January move, but his focus remains on repaying Brentford’s faith in him and helping the club avoid relegation.
While top clubs might be on Toney’s radar, Brentford are under no pressure to sell him, and will only consider offers that are benefitial to the club.
